Nook on Lyne is our family home, set within 10 beautiful acres of rural North Cumbria, close to the Scottish Borders, and is owned and run by Vicky and Mike.

Animals have always been at the heart of our lives and our approach has remained consistent throughout everything we do: to provide the highest standards of care, put welfare first and treat every animal as an individual.

We have deliberately chosen to keep what we do personal and intentionally small in scale, allowing us to devote the time, knowledge and attention needed to maintain the standards of care we believe every animal deserves.

With a small-scale, family-centered approach we focus on quality over quantity and have just two litters per year allowing us to devote our full attention and resources to each litter. This approach reflects our personal commitment to maintaining the highest possible standards in breeding and ensuring the welfare of our dogs who are a huge part of our family.

Our unwavering dedication to responsible and ethical breeding, high standards, comprehensive health testing and exceptional client engagement and support has earned us many acolades both in the UK and internationally.

a Veterinary Medical Practice with a focus on improving health and welfare for pets. This partnership allows us to provide new owners with a funded 12 month subscription to first class veterinary expertise. The endorsement by VidiVet underscores our dedication to animal health and our efforts to promote best practices within the field.

Our commitment to animal health and wellbeing also led us to establish our Canine Nutrition Consultancy.

We help owners support their dogs’ health, wellbeing and longevity through carefully considered, nutritionally balanced fresh-food diets, taking into account the individual dog’s life stage, lifestyle and nutritional requirements.

Our approach is personal rather than one-size-fits-all, with each diet formulated around the individual dog.

Full Holiday and Retirement Livery
Our connection with horses goes back over five decades.

Mike’s relationship with Nook on Lyne began when he was just two years old, with treasured family photographs showing him riding his pony Benji around the family smallholding.

For many years, Nook on Lyne was also home to a small, friendly livery yard, where caring for horses was simply part of everyday life.

Now, our journey has come full circle as we welcome horses back to Nook on Lyne.

Rather than returning to a traditional livery yard, we have created something intentionally different:a private, peaceful equine retreat offering One to One Equine Holiday Livery and One to One Equine Retirement Livery.

With accommodation for a maximum of just two guest horses at any one time, we can provide the time, attention and consistency that are central to our approach.

Every horse is treated as an individual, with care adapted around their age, condition, temperament, routine and specific requirements.

Our aim is to provide a calm, secure and low-traffic environment where horses can feel settled and owners can have complete peace of mind knowing their horse is receiving knowledgeable, compassionate and individual care.
